Zoo Animals in Education Workshop

On 28 October 2024, we welcomed over 50 delegates to Reaseheath College for a day focused on animals commonly found in zoos and wildlife parks, which are increasingly housed in educational collections. While these species provide incredible learning opportunities for students, it is essential to ensure they are housed in a way that optimises their welfare.

The day featured talks by industry experts, studbook keepers, and TAG members, who shared insights on best husbandry practices, the benefits of keeping these species, and the considerations to be made before deciding to house them.
